Hi,
My name is Terry Mitchell and I live in Bristol.
I started modelling when I was eight and that gave me the love of aircraft and led me into the A.T.C. I then joined the R.A.F. as an Apprentice (Trenchard Brat).
After training at Locking in Radar, I served with the V. Bombers at Conningsby and Wittering. After sixteen years service we returned to Bristol.
Continuing my modelling I built the Vulcan and Victor using lightweight building techniques for four electric ducted fan jets, trying for a practical cheap hand launched belly landing aircraft that I could practically fly from my clubs grass airstrip.
These being successful, last year my dear wife of forty five years marriage was struggling with secondary breast cancer. I simultaneously went down with bladder cancer and had to have a Urostemy.
I recovered enough to nurse Wendy in her final days last October. She made me promise to complete the three V`s and build the Valiant.
I started, a month after her death in October, and completed and gave it its successful maiden flight in April.. I felt very emotional after and I am sure she was watching over me.
Details.
Wing Span Seven feet.
Weight Five Pounds.
Construction Six mm sheet Depron.
Power Four 50mm E.D.F`s.
Four brushless motors
One 80A speed controller.
One 3700 three cell Lipo flight pack.
I hope to fly all three V`s together at Woodspring E Day together with the help of two more pilots.
I think The Valiant is the best flyer of the three.
